Initally David's agent turned down the role without reading the script, informing the director Frazer Bailey that he was too busy to do short films. However, once they read the script, they loved the concept and forwarded it to David.
David was enthusiastic about doing the role, but the funds weren't there initially. So David wrote Frazer a letter stating that when they were ready he'd be there.
